How to Run Zoom on the Raspberry Pi
Since Zoom requires video and audio functionality, you'll need a webcam as well as a microphone and maybe a pair of headphones. Alternatively, you may consider using a headset with a built-in microphone. A Pi with more RAM retails for a higher price tag. One of the best options if you're just getting started is to cop a Raspberry Pi starter kit that comes with a Pi board, microSD card, case, fan, and other amenities.
With your Raspberry Pi powered on and booted into a Linux distro like Ubuntu or Raspberry Pi OS, go ahead and connect all of your webcam, microphone, and headset. First, connect your webcam. Simply connect your webcam to a free port on your Raspberry Pi. Next, hook up your microphone. A standard USB microphone is the easiest option. If you're using a headset with an integrated microphone, skip this step. Now, connect your headphones or speakers. There are a few ways of accomplishing this.
Alternatively, you may use the Pi's analog audio output to connect a pair of headphones or speakers. Since the Pi transmits audio and video over HDMI, you could also use the built-in speakers of your display device, or pipe audio from the Pi over HDMI and utilize an audio output on your display device such as analog 3.
After that, you should have your webcam, mic, and headphones or speakers properly connected. Then, it's time to fire up Zoom. In a browser, head to join. This will open Zoom in a web browser. You can now enter a meeting ID and password, or if you've received an email Zoom link invitation, you can click on the meeting request URL in the email. You'll be prompted to add Zoom to Chrome. Instead, select Join from Your Browser to launch the Zoom web app.
Now, the Zoom web app should launch. You'll be asked to enable your microphone and camera, so select Allow. With its low price tag, small footprint, and energy efficiency, the Raspberry Pi makes a great desktop PC for basic tasks. Since you can run Zoom on the Raspberry Pi, it's a great option for both students seeking a cheap computer or work-from-home employees.

I have an extra Raspberry Pi 4 that I could give him, but unfortunately zoom does not run on boards based on ARM chips. The Raspberry Pi is a cheap computer board and the Raspberry Pi 4 works quite well as a desktop system, capable of running multiple monitors with 4k HDMI. Would it be possible to get a Debian package built for ARM? Hi tonylhansen , I definitely see the use case and wish we could provide this; however, we have to prioritize client and SDK engineering resources on other efforts at this time.
Thank you for replying, michael. Or at least got it into your queue of feature requests. While we might not be immediately able to jump on this, we always look for new ideas. Honestly I think the rasp 4 could handle a full zoom app. I would love to see an RPi4 build as that is my main desktop computer. Currently their only option is to use the join. A much better alternative would be the Chromebook App. Many users, including me, have tried using the Chromebook app.
It never connects. A nearly-compatible app has already been developed, and it almost works. But why does it never connect? I personally led an effort to find out, and finally concluded that the problem originated from the NaCl code built-in to the Chrome App. If that NaCl code is removed or made compatible with armhf, I fully expect the Chromebook App to work flawlessly. Raspberry Pies are used by many school students, low-income families, and others who desperately need to stay in touch with their loved ones.
Certainly the Pi should be able to work well since I have tried Duo and Hangouts and they do work pretty well on the Pi. But Zoom is important and being able to use it on a low-cost device would be great for many families. My partner is an educator and her district requires using Zoom to meet with students. For reasons not relevant to the discussion, she uses a Raspberry Pi recently upgraded from a Pi3 to a Pi4 as her home computer.
The only way she can use Zoom on the Pi is through the web-based version in the browser; in her case, Chromium Chrome. However, that method is unstable because the tab hosting the session crashes. That requires reloading the tab.
How to install zoom on Raspberry Pi
Thank you very much in advance if somebody using rpi camera with zoom pi-app could help me. I am using this camera because I imagined that it could be the cheapest and fastest more integrated option for RPi4, instead of using an usb expensive videoconferencing camera; also adding usb headset at the same time, could probably create a bottleneck for zoom at the usb port.

I have used zoom installation app from the new updated pi- apps today.
I have pulse audio installed and alsa installed. So i installed cmake, then installed box86 from terminal, then the zoom installation app from pi app overwriting box86 with the last box86 version as prompted. I have had the following problems: 1 libxcb-xtest library absent.. Mypaint was also removed. Reinstalling GIMP brings zoom not working.
The terminal hangs up after initializing zoom. It is imposible to have zoom and GIMP installed at the same time? Audio is not working with the new modified app. In the old app zoo.
I have usb audio headset with headphones and integrated mic logitech h headset compatible with linux and zoom. It has an audio board connecting via usb, so rpi audio, zoom web and google meet works perfect selecting the correct audio on the headset.
But now with the new pi zoom desktop over box86 installed with the modified app It permanently selects bcm audio and when i force zoom configuration to logitech h audio usb it does not work it gave me the option, marked it as selected, but did no worked.
Reinitiallizing zoom via the appa only returned to bcm audio on zoom. Logitech headset mic works and is autoselected by zoom. Today i will try box86 in debug mode and post terminal screen. I hope that's old news, because that should have been fixed Yes, but only after installing c-make manually first, the zoom pi app and box86 compiles and installs ok.
After installing that, did zoom work? Yes, it did. The headset works ok on zoom web. I cannot change the option in zoom app clicking on the option does not work. I checked out that the usb audio output is selected in raspberry pi system pulse audio is using it by default, and the sound works ok for other applications in the headset. Video from isp connected rpi camera module V2 did not work selection appears as bcm video.
